Ghost in the Shell: Image Without Meaning

This is something that I’ve been writing (or mostly not, technically) over the course of months. I thought that now would be a good time to publish it at least, with the actual film coming out in a few days. I’m not sure if it’s good yet. It could be, I guess, and the best possible outcome is everyone enjoying a great film while I sit back and wash down my words with some popcorn. This is just a collection of pre-release rambles on a movie that seems to be falling down a bit of a rabbit-hole. Continue reading Ghost in the Shell: Image Without Meaning

“The Glory of the Expanded Universe” (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story)

“The Glory of the Expanded Universe” (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story)

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is just that. A Star Wars story. It’s not an “episode”, it’s not a mainline film, it’s a standalone “spin-off.” For most, this’ll definitely be the first film (likely the first story in general) in the Star Wars universe that is not an “episode.” Here’s why it’s not like that for me. Why Everyone Should Stop Yelling About Suicide Squad

Why Everyone Should Stop Yelling About Suicide Squad

I saw Suicide Squad the other day, putting me quite in the same situation that I was when I left the theater after X-Men Apocalypse. Too late to do a full review, and, honestly, left with not enough to say that would actually fill one. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Reveal Thoughts

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Reveal Thoughts

After years of waiting, it’s finally here. The new Legend of Zelda game is called Breath of the Wild, and it looks absolutely incredible. I’m watching the E3 Treehouse presentation live, and writing down some of my thoughts here during the downtime between new segments, for whoever’s interested. This is going to be a lot of bullet points, so bear with me! Continue reading The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Reveal Thoughts

“Whose Side Are You On?” (Captain America: Civil War)

“Whose Side Are You On?” (Captain America: Civil War)

I remember when I heard that Captain America 3 was going to be an adaption of the Civil War storyline, I immediately rushed out and got a copy of the comic book from my local library. I loved it. It was fantastically written, interesting, and seriously morally ambiguous. The whole story was constructed to steer you through the different sides, but there was never a right decision. It was brilliant, so after reading it, I was naturally excited to see the movie. How’d it turn out? Continue reading “Whose Side Are You On?” (Captain America: Civil War)

“Real Maturity, Mostly” (Daredevil: Season 2)

“Real Maturity, Mostly” (Daredevil: Season 2)

Last year, Marvel Comic’s deal with Netflix yielded one of the best comic book adaptions in years, Daredevil, a thirteen episode series about the origins and life of the Marvel comics character Daredevil (go figure). After watching the first season in literally one day, I couldn’t wait for the second season to hit Netflix. Well, now it’s here, and it’s definitely making itself noticed.
